brake pedal hard

my brakes get hot only after driving about a block or so and the pedal gets hard but the brakes still work but when i take my foot off the gas you can feel the car slowing down without putting on the brakes also the brakes are hot and smell. i change the right rear hose and rebuilt the same caliper.

bleed um all, starting with the farthest caliper away moving to the closest caliper to the master cylinder

i disagree, the reason you'd need to bleed the lines is to purge them of air or even old, useless brake fluid. having either of the two in the brake line will would cause the brake pedal to feel soft, or spongy but not hard. a hard brake pedal would most likely be the result of a bad brake booster.
