15 Y/o Want To Start A 240 Project
I say get a dependable car and drive it for a while before you do anything. A stock s14 is a great car to learn on, and is fairly dependable. The last thing we need is another 16year old kid who doesn't know how to drive a car like a modified 240sx, barreling into another vehicle because the car was too much for him to handle. Just take it slowly, you will be able to spend more time picking out what you want to modify this way.
+1
as much as people say 240's are going away, that will never happen, take your time. My 240 was in decent shape when i got it almost 6 years ago.
however i beat on it but i had about 3 years of serious mechanical ability when i bought my car. Just don't end up with a paper weight because:
1. you don't have the money to repair
2. you cant afford to pay to have someone else fix it.
3. you don't have the motivation.
just being honest with you buddy.

in this culture... knowing people in the right spots will help alleviate some issues and even save you money.
when you see highly modded street cars, its because they know someone who knows someone who can keep the car on the roads.
im not saying be buddies with guys who run Chop Shops lol. but just check with local guys before you go ***** to the wall modding and then a year or so comes around and you have to slap all of your stock stuff back on to pass.
also in VA you must have all your emissions equipment present during a visual inspection. Soon enough you will come across the thread that titled
"Free HP Mods"
you will not be able to do them in VA unless well you know people that's all.

haha, yeah... just get to know people... people who can pass your car at an inspection especially. virginia cops suck, so getting an exhaust is going to suck. become friends with a few mechanics, even offer to help out at their shop.
Also, lowering your car is considered illegal, but only some cops will actually say anything, as long as it can be lifted with a normal jack (not a mini jack) it should be ok.
I have my connections. I have my shop.
Where in VA do you live?

I'll help you out, no problem, just supply the food
and no I don't know him, I don't hang out much with the "racers" of VA. just mainly my little car club which consists of 4 240's (1 s13, 3 s14's... s13 and 1 s14 are not running
) well damn, mine isn't running either... my car club pretty much went to sh*t. Every time I go downtown though I always see civics and integras which seem fast, on a 25mph road... I also see a few 240's around the downtown area. (I only go downtown because that's where my friends friends shop is and he's working on my car.)
What's you're price range, I'll help you find a 240.

well currently im in my drivers ed class so i don't even have my license yet, but im thinking my parents will toss me 5-6k to work on a car..since they bought my sister an 8k legend. And i will have 2k+ on my own to spend. i was looking to pick up a chassis pretty soon but people are telling me to get somethign driveable, so i will probably do that..i'm lokoing for a really clean riding s13 or a decent shaped s14, no rust. but show me what you can find.
