is 180k miles to much?
is 180k miles to much?
Ok, i live in southern alabama and it is damn near impossible for me to find a 5spd 240 down here...well it just so happens that one has stumbled its way down here...except it has 180k miles on it...is the car still worth getting even though i would be totally broke after i bought it (no money for a new engine) and about how many more miles will the engine last...the engine looks in pretty good condition for a 14 year old car
go for it, if its from a dealer ask if it has a warranty you should also be able to talk them down, when dealerships take in cars on trade you dont get **** for them ( i worked at a dealership) but ask if the car burns any oil ect. (the dealership usualy checks out the car mech. and details it and such) but take it out for a test drive and if it drives nice go for it, i suggest a carfax report. dealers will do anything at the end of the month because they have goals they like to reach. what year integra? miles? how much do they want for the 240. you might be better off putting the three down and selling your integra? just a thought.
Umm, lets see. It has 180K miles on it. Obviousy it has been down the road & back. Also, you dont reach that mileage by having a broke a*s car.
It's a 14 Y. O. car that has definitly out lived it's prime.
About how long it will last...it has 180K miles on it. It might die tomorrow. Then again it might last 4 years...who knows.
If it runs good. Dont worry about the engine. Look at things like steering, suspension, & brakes. Those could run you into thousands to get fixed/replaced.

i agree with piece ... so what if you have to pay 300 after your integra? for that many miles, i'd hope the dealership would be offering it for maybe 3k at most. then again it IS a dealership...
... but since it is, get in writing any work they do on it, and see what kind of warranty there is. but the money the dealership is giving you for your integra is a lot LESS than what someone else will give you. maybe get a loan for a few months and sell the integra on your own.

i got an "89" 240sx FB MT SOHC with 214K miles on it for $1300. I talked to a few car ppl n mechanics that said Milage doesn't matter, it's the condition that counts. When i got it, I did some minor tune ups and took it on a few long drives, such as LA - SD. AND LET ME TELL U, when i got this car i could tell the 1st owner treated it like crap. ALL the car needs is a lil TLC. Hope that makes u feel better.
BTW: the car now has 217K on it. Still hauling SOHC @$$ !!!!!

it just depends on how much they usually sell for in your area. i wouldnt buy any car for a trade on a current car i own(if its paid for) and 300. more bucks. even more so, if it will break your bank. save some more money just in case something goes wrong with the car you buy. i bought my s13 for 500. body in pretty good shape. so if its a good price in your area then it might be a good deal.
Well I dont know about you but I'd say take it. Even if the car was beat. Nissan's are known for that so dont worry. I'll tell you a lil story:
My friend has a Nissan Altima 2000. Its his daily driven car and evey night he comes home he beats on it. He has a lil spot where he likes to hit 120mph on the street (no highway lol). He purchased the car 2 years ago (almost 3 years) and so far hes been through a new clutch and new sets of tires (bought last week). Thats the only problem he had was the tires and clutch. But no engine problem. The car had 67k miles on it and now it just hit 140k.
Basically what im trying to tell you is that nissan engines are really powerful and last really long. They can last to about 300k miles if its been taken care of properly. In the spring he bought a new engine since hes going to add headers and a custom 3" catback system since they dont make it for his car. He even told me that hes not sure he needs the new engine because of the way his old engine is running. Everything is fine! and runs like new.
So go for it!!!
You can always buy a new engine like my friend did on ebay for $200 LOL!!
