1995 S14 - Weight Distribution

Very impressed with this car and I haven't added anything major. Yet...

The boss is out today so I got a chance to do my subframe bushings.

Figured, while it's up I'll use some of my setup tools to see where the car is in a (near) stock config. The numbers below are with the following changes from stock: carbon hood, tension rods, rear toe rods, rear traction rods, and larger wheels/tires. That's it.

Weight Distribution with Driver at 150lbs, spare in, full interior, trunk linings in.

LF – 850 RF – 855

LR – 714 RR – 659

Cross-Balance = 50.9%

Total Weight = 3080

Will be doing a battery relo to centerline and underneath the spare (ALWAYS go as low as you can) when I get the pieces together. That should bring to near 50-50 with spare still in. Remember, my projects assume retaining FULL daily driver function and handling over straight-line speed.

I don't have factory race cars that show these numbers.

weird i got my 95 s14 weighed in at 2758 with out driver c/f hood dry cell battery SR20 coilovers full interior and spare.

im afraid i messed up my weight distribution though took off alot of weight from the front with c/f hood SR and dry cell battery. the s14 has neutral steering cause it had more weight in the front then an s13 which has understeer.

but i guess i can fix that by adjusting my coilovers dunno i goto mess alot more with my settings next time auto-x comes around

is there a special machine to weigh each corner, or is it just a normal scale? i was thinking of going to the dump, cuz they weigh the car to figure out how much **** ur throwin out, but kinda impractical and not precise. does anybody know the ACTUAL weight of the 95 S14 auto tranny? (factory) i find a different number on every site. ive heard everything from 2600 to 3100. big@$$ gap if you ask me

Cars.com has the car at about 2850 or so

Hinson has the car at about 2870 with quarter tank of gas.

I estimate the car to be about 2900 lbs with a full tank. auto shouldnt be that much more.

We have a 4-corner scale that displays weight and percentages in various combinations. Any shop that competes will have one and will gladly give you some numbers. Unless it is a race weekend, they will already have it set up and can knock you out in like 5 minutes.

Yep. Right about that. The auto's trans is slightly heavier, but it is so low and balanced in the car that most people really wouldn't be able to notice the weight difference.

I've had two auto S14's before... I can slightly tell the difference, not much but I can still tell. It takes a seriously loooooong time to learn about telling weight on any car. But thats where all the fun is at!

On the track that is...
