2000 RPM problem...

Ok I have a 1995 240SX SE and I think that there is a problem with it. When I accelerate to about 2000 RPM, a rattleing clicking sound comes from behind the dash. Sounds kinda like it's an engine problem. Kinda sounds like a bad gear or something. Does anyone have this problem? Does anyone know what it is and/or how to fix it? You see the noise starts at about 2000RPM and it gets more erratic, but when I get to about 3000 RPM the noise gradually goes away. It's mostly predominant at 2000 RPMs on each gear. Lately it sounds like it's becoming more common and louder. I don't want to drive it if it's a serious problem. I want to get it fixed, but i dont know what the problem is. Can anyone Help? This is my only way to COllege and work.

I figured something out today, It's not the fact that it is 2000 rpms. The clicking starts if i push the accelerator down a lot. If i ease the acceleration the noise happens at about an inch from its initial state. So Does anyone know what it is?

when it's cold, my dash seems to rattle around the passanger side around 2000 RPM. any more than 2k it's fine, any less than 2k it's fine. I always thought that it was just something loose in my dash, but now I'm thinking it could be the timing chain. hmmmm. i'll have to listen again next time I drive. doesn't seen to happen when the car is warm tho....

edit: haha I'm an idiot. nothing wron with my car or motor. It was just my stupid parking tag haning off my mirror vibrating.... stupid parking tag. in the summer heat the cheap plastic of the parking tag softens up and sits nicely against the mirror. In the winter cold it sits at a horrible angle and vibrates ~2k rpm. go figure. stupid tag.
