looks great, goes fast. it's a f'n skyline. it's going to rock. but the car is a pig. i hear it's going to weigh damn near 4000 lbs. for me the exige/exige s is the best car available.

PS. Keep bickering like children and i'll start handing out dunce caps. . Keep it clean gents.

^ its not a skyline. Its a name, "GTR". The G35/37 is the "skyline" in america now. The GTR in Japan stopped around i think 2002 or 2003 (? maybe) Next was the G35 like here in the US. there was no GTR made. This is my own opinion.

From what i've researched on it. It'll keep up with a vette and viper. But it also depends on what model they did the research on. There's from what I know 3 GTR's made. The base priced at like almost 70K, the next has better suspension, brakes, and more HP (I'm guess around 80ish). Then I think the "NISMO" tune which only has 40 more HP, a little better suspension, and same breaks. Yet almost 100K. Dont quote me off what i say. I'm going off of something I read a couple months back.

The actual version that is produced just might beat both a viper and vette. They were close on testing, so I know they aren't just gonna go lower on numbers and what not. the first person to buy it needs to get that **** on the dyno and hand it over to a pro driver on the 1/4 i say!

this should answer any questions about this amazing machine
http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...issan_skyline/

for all you who don't want to click on the link,
It will also be the first time that Nissan has officially imported the Skyline into the United States, so the company needs the car to live up to the hype that has been built around it. The Skyline GT-R, as well as being a star of video games, was hugely successful in racing and was a one-time holder of the Nrburgring Nordschleife lap record for production cars, a feat which has become a sort of holy grail for performance-car manufacturers.
To that end, the rumor mill in Japan says that the production GT-R will have a front-mounted, twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-6 engine that's a development of the 350Z's unit. Nissan's original plan to do a V-8 has been axed because the engine is too big and heavy to provide the dynamic balance the engineers want. The V-6 will reputedly produce 450 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. The power will be sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed transmission. The all-wheel-drive system will feature a development of the GT-R's famed, torque-sensing, electronic ATTESA E-TS, matched to four-wheel steering....Nissan is apparently aiming for a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.8 seconds, with a top speed north of 180 mph.

it's definitely not just going to be taking on corvettes and vipers, this car will be competing against cars 2x its price. I think everyone will all be really amazed what this vehicle will be capable of, and it will be an honest continuation of the skyline legacy.

With me i still dont consider it a Skyline. its just a "GTR.' All skylines have had different versions of it. Like the RB20DE(and DET) same with the RB25DE(and DET) All using the RWD and AWD form. Not sayin the car will be badass and do everything people want. I just still think the G35's and (i think) G37's are the "skylines" of america. thats just my own opinion

The Infinitis' ARE skylines. Same car different name. The Skyline has been in America for years.

2003 Skyline

2003 Infiniti G35

And can anybody answer my question or not? Google didn't help. Does the GTR share any chassis components whatsoever with the Skyline or not?

did anybody read the press release on the site?

for years the GTR grade has always been based off the skyline body style, all the way up to the last r34. but to meet expectations of a higher performance saturated market they decided to evolve the skyline GTR heritage into a pure sports model, that is NOT based off the comtemporay v36 generation skyline/g37 coupe model offered today. thus the new name to 'GTR,' and not 'skyline GTR.' think of it as the celica-supra changing to supra in the 80s. press release also says the benchmark is the 911 turbo (480hp, 193mph, 0-60 in 3.7sec, 3514 lbs). cant wait for magazine comparison tests...

I love the car, but for some reason I don't think it will sell well. The corvette will offer more go for the money, and 'vettes have been in America since 1953. I know we all want one - but since I dont think the average 16-25 year old has $80,000 (or however much they charge, remember we have heavy tariffs on imported cars in the US) I dont think nissan will be selling many in America. I expect the skyline to be offered for a few years, then pulled from the US market.

g35 isn't a skyline, it's a weaker, more expensive 350z
