240 with a V6?
A family member is selling a 240 and I was inquiring about it. Well she said it has a V6 in it with a 5 speed. In my searches I have yet to find a 240 that came with a V6 motor. Would this be an aftermarket motor or are there really 240's that came stock with one? I have very little knowledge of Nissan's so any specifics you can give would be nice. People keep talking about CA's, SR's and RB's but that means nothing to me.
Thanks

You could get an 87-88 200SX SE which came with a V6. To my knowledge that's the only factory V6 Sxx(x) chassis car produced by Nissan.
The SOHC V6 can be squeezed into a 240SX, but this is a rare swap... and pointless with the availablility of the SR20DET which can be swapped easily.
My bet is that someone made a mistake.... or it's a 200SX.

240SX only came with KA24[D]E's. (Other S13/14 chassis cars came with different engines--but then they were also called different names :-)
Nissan made a few V6 motors. The most "popular" swap seems to be an RB series motor (I6). Another nissan possibility is a VG series engine (as found in the Z31/32 Fairlady). A VQ-series engine is unlikely because it is FWD. Of course, it could just as well be an American V6 :-)
Only way to know is to pop the hood--which you really ought to do anyway. Looking at the state of the engine bay can tell you lots in how the car has been taken care of.
As far as fitment, the RB20DE[T] and RB25DE[T] motors fit with very little modification ("a little snip-snip here and a little snip-snip there"). I belive the RB26DETT requires more modification due to it's twin-turbo design.
There is plenty of information on all of this :-)
Bottom line: Look!

I often wondered what it would be like to swap in one of those supercharged V6's from the (frontier/xterra) in the 240sx I bet that would be fantastic with all the torque
not sure about the handling tho!
