240sx 101

Hey guys. Im totally new here, im 15, 16 in a week, i live in Florida, about 20 minutes from Tampa, and I dont get my license till sept. 27.

anyways, ive been looking for a car for a while now, something to motivate me to get a job and work alot

anyways, i came across a 240sx, and im pretty much in love. ive heard of them before, known for their drifiting, but i want to learn as much as possible about them, since it will be my future car, im probly going to get a 91, 92, or 93, because you can get them for only like 2k and I have to buy my car myself

oh well, older is better, cuz i can work on it alot.

so just basicly please tell me everything about them, heres some general questions...

1.) how many miles can these things handle? the used ones im seeing are all mid 100k.
2.) whats the top speed on it?
3.) whos the rival? like, on the road and stuff, any rivalrys?
4.) good choice for first car?

might have more, just tell me everything I should know, thanks!

1) Depends on how well it was taking care of
2) Plan on driving fast?
3) Sounds so Initial D, what do you mean rival?
4) Depends, if you plan on acting like an *** and trying to drive 100mph and race everyone then I say no, buy something else because all your going to do is hurt yourself or worse yet someone else.

ive been driving since i was 13... so im an experienced drive, and I race Race Cars. So i know what im doing. and no, i dont play on just driving fast.

and as far as rival goes, go look on some other car forums, all you hear mainly is them talk **** about one specific car.

I don't care if you've been driving since you were two and drive F1 cars, if your just buying the car to drive fast on the streets and be a super leet street racer and post of your idiotic doings, this is not the forum for you.

yyyyeah not the best thing to say on a forum. First off, i dont wanna sound like an old fart by saying something like "youre never half as good as you think you are, there's always some way to improve" but its true. It doesnt matter how long you drive, or what you drive, you can never be fully prepared. Now saying that "i know what im doing" is just being arrogant. Listen to the more experienced drivers on here... ive been driving for about 4 years myself, and can manuver a FWD like nobody's business, but i dont cuz 1) youll end up getting a ticket for it if not 2) hurting yourself and someone else by doing it and most importantly for the 240's 3)they are in very limited supply these days cuz of ricer punks who think they can do it all and wrap em around poles and trees and such. Now dont take it the wrong way though, you may be as skilled as you say, just dont be stupid about it. There's more at stake than pride.

Well now that we have that out of the way, i see a lot of ppl dissing the 240.. mustang ppl, camaro ppl, civic ppl... a lot of ppl talk trash about the 240, but a 240 could smoke a lot of them stock vs. stock... well maybe a well maintained 240. Just dont do it on the streets. we try to maintain a level of dignity on these forums.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the forums

thanks, yah i never said anything like me getting the car just to speed around. someone likes to jump to conclusions....hmmm

and i know im not the best or anything like that, racing on a track is ALOT different than on the street. on track you dont even look back, just go. on street you have to be a defensive driver.

Not jumping to conclusions but when you come on here asking what the top speed of the cars are and what are rival cars it tends to make one think that the person is just looking to be "Super tyte streetracer"

civics are un original. They have way too many dress up parts. They have 90-something horsepower stock (older 90's models). FWD. Everyone and their grandmother owns a civic. Civics are not worth having around in my opinion. Mod an accord, they are so much more pizimp
