169k, $800 and the headlight motors dont work. and it has a little body rust......

ill have pics sometime soon.... im just wondering if its a good deal for this or not

benziebbj 10-19-2005 12:41 PM

I had an 89 and it was really good to me. I only had to replace a clutch and oxygen sensor..

My bad man didn't read your hole post... I got a 92 coupe white, perfect inside no rips and good exterior no rust, dent's etc.. The engine is locked up though...

wheres the rust at?

butters 10-19-2005 01:49 PM

you have it for sale?

im not shure where the rust is at. ill find out wheni get the pics. but im a little weary about the 169k....

Bryan 10-19-2005 02:01 PM

don't be weary, if the KA was taken care of it should still be running fine. My old 1991 had about the same mileage and the only thing that ever needed replaced was the thermostat. If the person maintained it, it should be fine.

But definately find out where the rust is

butters 10-19-2005 02:05 PM

where are the bad areas for rust?
if it has alot of rust or any type holes, im not going to get it

butters 10-19-2005 02:13 PM

is there anything bad about having the SOHC? or should i look for the 91+ years with the DOHC?

butters 10-19-2005 04:10 PM

rust is on the passenger front fender and rocker panel

nsn240 10-19-2005 04:44 PM

that's not too bad a place... just make sure you replace the whole area with new sheet metal... definatley check UNDER the car for rust too. There's nothing wrong with an SOHC, if you really want, you can swap the heads and make your single cam a double

allright, i found a 93 with a blown head gasket. i heard that blowing the head gasket is a common problem with them. is this tru? i am just asking because i want to make shure that the only reason, not because it overheated or something.

this one is from texas and has no rust : )

Bryan 10-20-2005 10:12 AM

I dunno if its common, but depending on your mechanical ability it may be a decently expensive fix

butters 10-20-2005 11:57 AM

well, my father told me when engines blow a head gasket its usually caused by overheated and that may have warped the hear or maybe the block. so i figured to make it easier on myself, i called a motor rebuilder and got a price on a rebuilt motor. and wen he was explaining what they did to it, he mentioned something about an upgraded head gasket because over time it will deteriorate....

i am mechanically inclined once i figure it out, and understand it. wich i understand motors.... i work on my quad all the time. plus i can ask my dad if i need any help

as long as its just the head gasket i will have no problem fixing it. fund wise. maybe i can throw some cams in it while i have it appart. the 240sx area is fairly new to me so im not shure whats out there on the market. i can get it for 1800 OBO with 125k and no rust at all

Bryan 10-20-2005 12:03 PM

so is that $1800 with a blown headgasket? I would try to talk them down a little bit, that seems a little high to me for a car with that problem
