89-94 240sx

Hi, im interested in buying a 240sx the 89-94 model. Is there any common/general problems with the car between the 89 and 94 yrs? And what do i need to look out for when looking at the car?
Thanks!

well 89- 90 and 91-94 are different engines. they may look the same but aren't. the engines have a difference of 15hp with the new ones have a ka24de. get the newer one. they are good and will need maintenance like any other car of that age. oh you might find yourself speeding to much.... hehe.

I personally like the SOHC 240's. Many won't agree with me, but it's the little differences I think are better.

SOHC motors have a common failure that requires the timing chain and guides (tensioner) to be replaced. I believe it's easy to notice on a car that hasn't had this done because the chain will rattle.
