95 240sx Se?

ok...im thinking of buying my friend's 95 240SX SE..
127k miles
AT tranny
clean body, has a sunroof
everything is stock
im looking for a good commuter car...im not a fan of asian imports at all...to be honest, im pretty much 90% muscle car guy...10% sporty euro's lol. i was just wondering what i should look into on these and how much its worth? its the teal looking color, bone stock, he got it for 4500 w\about 120k miles or there. please tell me what i should look for in the car that may give me some in the future problems...this will be my commuter car until next fall when ill probably get a 94-00 mustang gt im not looking to suping this up or any kinda mods...probably just the normal K&N air filter and thats it lol, and just throwing a deck and subs in there for me to enjoy some music while i drive...i just like the styling on these 240SX's lol
thanks guys

Look for a clean and well maitened interior, test drive it of course and make sure it feels good and its what you are looking for in a car, check for leaks of any kind, Dents in the frame or body of the car, if youa re able to you can Carfax it, check for rust...hmm cant think of anything else

If the engine is bone stock and it's been maintained, and it drives well then you should have no problems at all. Like you said, it's gonna be a "cummuter" car right? Then you should have nothing to worry about after the "basics" except for the interior since you'll be using the car daily. At least make sure there are no funky smells, and that the interior's overall condition is livable.

The only thing I can think of mechanically that might be a problem to look out for is leaky front tension rods, but this only happens on older cars that have been driven hard, so NM I said that.

there is nothing s14's are known for, mostly s13's and their rust and tie rod ends, heh.

Make sure all the tune-ups were done, and it drives smooth, and the engine should last you 200K. Check for rust obsiously, condition of the tranny, if you're gonna get it looked @, see if the ECU throws any codes.

What if the s13 you are going to buy DOES has rust in the front wheel wells or the tire rods need replacing.

SHOULD one still buy the car and try to fix it, or is the rust unfixable?

Wheel well rust can be fixed, just bondo and some loving! i'm doing that to the wells in my 90 crx.
And tie rod ends just cost ~$150 to be replaced, thats all. Typical wear & Tear.

And dude, a mustang gt? thats WEAK. Everyone and their brother has a mustang! Drop a sr20 in that 95 and she'll rape any GT.

just a question...

i just looked up a pricing comparison between a 95 240SX SE and a 95 Mustang GT. on average, the two cars aren't separated by more than $200-$400. why would u settle for this car now, when in less than a year u are gonna buy the one u want? especially considering that they're both within the price range ur willing spend now? i don't get it...

that aside, like these guys have already said, u shouldn't find many things to go wrong on this vehicle (provided it was maintained properly). this, believe it or not, has been asked here before. here is a link for ur reading pleasure:

http://www.club240.com/forums/showth...&threadid=7767

either way, best of luck on ur acquisition.
