Am i crazy?

A friend of mine had a 90 240 hatch just sittting in front if his house for the past 3 years. It blew a head gasket and he never got it fixed. The interor is in decent shape (but brown) but the body is pretty bad.

I picked up the car for free. Almost all the fenders have problems, dents scratches etc, the hatch is rusted to holly hell. Im getting ready to do a 14k build on the car. I feel a little nutty, but should be a awesome car when done.

Im getting the chargespeed s15 conversion kit w/ full wide body for 3200shiped. The body shop wants 7k total (including the 3200 for the s15 conversion) to mold everything in, reinfoce the side skirts, 180sx tails and a new hatch, PLUS repaint the car to a offwhite (car is already white). So 3200 for kit, 500 for tails, say 300 for hatch, that means 3k for all the labor and paint.
Is this a decent deal?

Then once thats done, the car is gettin a sr20 swap. Im spending 6k total on motor. Found a clip for 2800 shipped. Leaves 3200$, new fuel pump, clutch, fmic. Anything else i should upgrade while im in there? If i have any money left of that 6k, then it will go somewhere else in the motor.

Leaves me with 1k, so im thinkin 300zx brakes. Within a few months, coilovers, lsd, and some rims.

I also need a new carpet (smokers car).

"if you cant afford to wreck it, then u cant afford to drift it"...ya i know, i dont plan on it. Its gonna be my daily/show car.

Anyway ya, gotta go sell my current car, a 2k3 MazdaSPeed Protege w/ 13k miles. (plug!)

Im I crazy? is the motor swap w/ custum fmic and clutch costing me to much?

Everything seems in line, i am not sure about the labor price though, but for parts everything seems right.

Hell no you're not crazy, ditch that protege and get a 240, much better, but if i were you i would do the sr20 swap BEFORE you start getting a s15 front end conversion put on. When buying the sr20, check the oil pan, they sometimes are damaged and easy to replace before you put it in.

Good luck and lemme know how it goes!

ever thought about RIMS and SUSPENTION?

i know you are not tellin me that you are gonna have a s15 conversion wide bodykit, and sr20 swap with lots of goodies, but you are gonna be at the stock ride height, runnin on stock rims?

you gotta save atleast $2000 for decent rims and a good suspenstion setup.

Before I dumped tons of money into body work etc... I would take time to replace bushings, replace any rusted parts. Rebuild the steering column, a nice set of coil overs, and other suspensions pieces need be. It would be a waste to spend 14k, driving a super clean, super nice, decently fast 240, when it rides, and drives like a POS. I would also redo the interior first to, atleast make it look decent. So you don't have some old brown, moldie carpet, in a near show car (well body in this case). 3 years is a long time to be sitting outside of someones house. Not to mention, you're going to have to clean all the bugs and spiders out of that thing.
