I live in West Orange, NJ (if you're unfamiliar with it we'll just say ~20 miles from NYC) and would like to know of a track or tracks where i can practice driving. Not drifting per se, just do some laps. Of course the closer the better, but i definitely wouldn't want much more than a 2 hour drive. If you have specific information (a club i need to join, a contact number, a web address, costs involved, whatever!) i'd love to have it. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Orange County Airport, but i know Englishtown. As far as i know, that's just a drag strip. I really want a track that i can do laps on (i think it's called a road course). Lime Rock is great - i took a couple short courses there - but i have no idea how that would work out with driving my own car. I know i wasn't allowed to do that in the courses, and anyway those were very expensive. I just want a less expensive way to get some practice.

You should check out your local SCCA & NASA clubs, they usually hold events and stuff regularly to help get you some experience. Also, please do not double post, I deleted your other post in the "Motorsports" section.

Ok i will check these. I just figured different people would see and respond to the postings in different sections, but no problem about the posting. I'm glad you said something, i almost just put a post in the "Regional" section as well!

If you like "drifting" in a parking lot with some cones then I suggest Englishtown. Usually a nice decent crowd there and you can get a few passes down.

E-town is best for Drag though, they have a road course but I have never seen it used, and its probably for go karts FTW

If you want something a little better try Limerock or Beaver (havent been to yet).

Yeah something along the lines of Lime Rock. But over the past few hours i've checked the websites of various clubs that have events there and they are all full for this year. I'll look into Beaver. I've never heard of it - what state is it in?

Basically i want a decent course to drive through, not a drag strip and not a skid pad. I can live with cones if a nice course is made with them, but i really don't want to go out with a crowd of people who's focus is on drifting. Whatever drifting occurs naturally by driving as best i can to get around a track as fast as i can, that's all the drifting i'll be doing.
