Hey, anyone saw the Dateline tonight about the airbags in the 94-95 Nissan Altimas that messed some people's faces up? They came out so hard it caused like, 25 people to go legally blind. Only on the passenger side though.

Hopefully the airbags on the 240 arent like that.

damn that really sucks...did the air bags come out for no reason or was it an accident the cars were in? 'cause i'd rather go blind than have major head trama

hopefully the prob has ben fixed in the 2nd generation cause i own one

Well, the issue is being disputed by Nissan and the victims of the airbag. In some of theses cases, the airbag didnt even need to be deployed. In one case, the accident was a fender bender at 10 mph. The car got a dent maybe 1 inch in diameter and a quarter inch deep and the guy in the passenger seat got punched in the face when trying to exit the car by the airbag and is now legally blind. Supposedly, these people are suing because the airbag hits the passengers face before it is fully inflated, so its like being hit by a boxing glove at 150 mph. Nasty.

The cases were all settled out of court with Nissan though.

Yeah, I dont think we have to worry about the 240 bags. They only mentioned the altima, and gave statistics comparing other cars in the class. Altimas were the worst unfortunately.

yeah I saw that specail about it. Thank god our family doesnt own an 94-95 Altima.
