bad catalytic

so the other day i noticed a faint dead animal type smell and thought oh its just road kill on the side of the road then a day after that i started to smell it again so i got the rpms up a little more then shifted and then i got a bif whif of dead animal smell and called a couple places and pretty much was told its probly a bad cat. so im just gonna get a whole new exhaust. so im looking at what i want, and i need input, i want something fairly good in price and good performance wise, and for sound i want a deep roar type sound. so any help will be appreciated.

Go high flow while you're at it. I haven't had any experience but maybe look up catco. I've heard random's are bad, and good. Do some searching but def. high flow.

Do you have strict emissions and such? If not i would suggest the same thing i did. I replaced my cat with a resonator. A straight pipe is going to make the tone raspier and more civic-like. A resonator is gonna make the car sound a little smoother and youll notice especially on the high rpms. I bought mine off of eBay from the seller id ebstores. It looks really good too. That would be your best bet in my opinion. If you want to keep a cat, go with random technology. I have a couple of freinds who have them, and the only problem one of them had was when his car dropped a cylinder, so he was pumping raw gas through it pretty much. It got hot and melted a small piece of carpet. Other than that they say theyre great.

oh yeah! if i had my pic, id go with apex. I would get a 2.5" exhaust though, i dont like the raspy farty civic sound. But hey, to each his own, its all about opinion.

NOW he tells us about his "just a new exhaust and cat". lol. Those are great man you'll have nice high end power with a real nice sound. Ya resonator is best phantom but I was makin sure he was safe and usin a cat still. That's all he needs with a system like that is for the bacon to fry him .
