Thumbs up Best engine for 240 swap.

I am kind of new to the nissan scene. I curently own a '02' SpecV which I am selling to get a 240.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...478024623&rd=1

That is the link if anybody is interested. Any way my question is which engine is the best to swap into the 240. I know the SR20DET is very popular but I have noticed some people using other engines. I just wanted to know if anyone has any good info on which is the best engine for the money, ease of install, and hp gain. Any comments would be great.

IMO, I think that ca18det is best all around better power potential than sr20det, expanded market for OEM parts compared to sr20det hence many cars using the the ca18(d)e. Very high revving, weighs the least has an iron block (I think) and the sr20det has an aluminum, very high revving, it all depends what yopur are looking for.

I like the RB motors but that is just my opinion. I6 and you can have major amounts of power. less than a SR and its from a skyline .

Moved to engine swaps

Everyone has different choices, so there really isnt the best engine swap. IMO, the RB20 and RB25 are great engine for the 240SX, but the small modifications and lack of aftermarket(not as much as the SR, but there still is)turns people away from them. CA18 is great, but they are usually beat to hell and high mileage. KA24DE/E/-T(either high performance N/A or Turbo)is a great choice as well! (notice how I am a iron block type of guy lol).

There is always the SR, a great engine but I'm not that fond of it. It can be turned into a beast though

I'm still tossing about between the SR20 and RB25... I've got until next summer when I head down to florida to pick up whichever engine I decide on though.

The SR20 has HUGE aftermarket support, whereas the RB is a little harder to find parts for. The SR20 is also a fairly easy install, everything bolts up. the RB engines require a few modifications to fit right. whatever you go with is going to have more power than the stock KA24D/E, whether its an SR or RB, turbo KA or high performance NA KA like Jynx said.

personally, I think the RB25 would make a rocktastic engine for me and in my car, but I want to make sure I can build it the way I want and with the parts I want.

yea for a little while i was just gonna do the rb25 but then found out how much custom things had to be done.( down pipe for one, i cant remember the rest) and the fact of how much harder it is to find parts for.

Thats a great thing about N/A(cops cant see most mods), but the reliablity on high performance N/A's are eh. I wanna do some more research on it...

yeah i think it is, but outside california its easier to get away with it. smog-wise, in CA you have to pass visual and sniffer-test, else where no visual required, i think
