Hey all! My buddy just got a 240sx. He's really interested in modding and all my knowledge comes from the mustang world. For us the best first mod is usually ring and pinion gears... how is that for the 240? And whats the stock r&p ratio in an automatic 240? Thanks guys, I'm looking foward to learning from you all. I've heard great things about this site!

 

The best mod for an automatic 240 is a manual trasmission IMO, but otherwise there is about 1 million things he can do.

 

lol yea I told him the same... but he's dead set on that auto... Are gears a good mod for the 240s or is the ratio allready so high that it won't help changing?

 

the ratio for a 240sx is pretty good, go to the FAQ's for the ratio's, I reckon I put them there.
Same as the mustang, you have your basic bolt on's, and like pulleys and such. Yoiu can spend a couple grand upgrading just bolt on's if you want. Suspension is something you'll want to invest it, it's what kicks the mustangs ***, corners. If you really want speed then look into the SR.

How are performance camshafts take in a ka24de?? Some guy is selling the whole head and I want to know if it would be good to buy it, it's like 200$ im sure I can lower it and it has perform springs?? Not for my current 240 but im planning on getting another one soon enough which will be ka24de and manual.

Imo I say swap trannys its going to drive him crazy it holds the car back too much, I know it does in mine. I have a ka24e and I dont know why but the tranny doesnt let go and holds the gear for way to long and takes the rev's to the begining of redline at times.
