the red top is the sr20 in S13 silvias which is the same as the black top found in 180sx's but for some reason the red tops are cheaper. Notch top refers to S14 and S15 silvia SR20's. If you have the money put an sr in your car or do something different and be one of the rare people who boost their KA's. It depends on if you have the money to transplant an sr in your car. If money isn't an issue you can always put an RB25 or RB26 in your car but that requires a lot of time and money. Also (not trying to be an *** like some people) do a search because this probably has been discussed before.

the "some reason" RedZenkiS14 was refering to when he said "some reason the red tops are cheaper" is simply because its older and comes with a different turbo,as opposed to the blacktop SR20s. the problem with your post is that best is a relative term. best for what? drag? autocross? grocery getting? making noise? heating small tibetian villages? (SR). compromise of all of the above? please be more specific.

yeah i agree with S13 240..Some people get all hyped up about engine swap when really the KA24De can be a relativly good engine.you get.4 more litres then the SR and a hell of a lot more torque. Just get the Greddy Ka-T kit. theres plenty of people i kno that have fit it in to the S13 model with out having to modify everything. Just do what you gotta do. And not to sound reptitive..."search"
