my experience with Japandomesticmotor.com

i bought mine (sr20det) 2 months ago, was missing maf sensor and some of the wires were cutted/cliped...
i notified them bout the maf sensor. at first i emailed them, no reply, then i emailed them again, no reply, then i called them, someone picked up and said the guy incharge isn't in and to call back again next day... which i did and they told me that i could use my dohc, (which i highly doubt it) so i told them, regradless, you're suppose to sent me a MAF sensor since that was what you stated, it included in the package, so i want mine... they said they'll send out one and it might take up to 2 weeks, so i said okay and waited,,
2 weeks pasted, no maf sensor, i called them up, serveral times before i got somebody to talk to, it was a different guy (it's a different guy everytime, i think) they said they needed to wait for the next shipment to come in so they'll have the maf sensor for me.. i sighed and said ok, so when will that be? they said it will take up to 2 weeks or so.. and also told me that i culd use my dohc maf again...
so i waited
2 weeks pass (my 30 days start up warrantee had already past)

no maf...
i called them again, on a thursday, they said ok, but call back next day for tracking number... but i didn't get a chance to call back for the tracking number until the following monday, i called, they said o we didn't ship it out yet (a diff guy btw) we'll ship it out today and call back for tracking number, i said, how bout you email me the number.. they said ok... i checked my mail the next day, nothing, checked my mail the following day, nothing, so i emailed them.. got nothing.. so i called them the next day.. we'll send it out today and give you a call back in 2 hours.. i said ok and waited... 2 hours, no call, 3 hours nothing... i called back and they (finally) said they just sent it out, and so i ask for a tracking number they said they use canadian post office, it don't provide one, (im curious, couldn't u purcahse a tracking number?) anyway, so i asked them how long would it take to get to me, they said in a week, (im in MASS they r in toronto!! wtf!?!?) i told them, my start up warrantee time s up long ago, i'm not gonna be held accountable for that... anyway yea, so now im waiting...


that's my experience with japandomesticmotor.com... im not so sure if the engine will even start yet, so hopefully it will when everything gets here... sigh...

 

Dude really what do you expect from an illegal importer. This has been explained many times in the forums. Weither it is Japan Domestic or some other JDM company. You bought an engine that is illegal for road use in all 50states. These companys do not feel responsible, nore negelegant once they have shipped you your SR20det. Many web sites have disclaimers now that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items during shipping. Now really would they have sent your MAF off before shipping? The answer is plain and simply NO. When ever you think you are getting a deal for your JDM swapper think again. Most Japanese that do own cars in Japan run high boost and run there engines into the Fuc%ing ground before 30,000 miles anyway. When ever you get into purchasing a JDM you are taking a gamble anyway, so my point is STOP your whining and pouting, and that goes for any body else that buy's a used engine, that is illegal from any shop....

not discounting anything you say Big V, but imo Sleeparella has a legitimate complaint though. When you purchase a product or service from a legitimate company, you have rights as a consumer to ALL of the terms of the transaction (i.e. you paid you're own money for the product or service) as detailed by the receipt. Yes the engine is illegal for street use, but who's to say Sleeparella didn't buy it just for his track car? I personally think this is more of an issue of shady business practices...

 

Agreed ^ there are good places that sell "illegal JDM motors" and have the customer service to back it up.

This is one of those cases where "you get what you pay for" - and especially when it comes to things that aren't supposed to be here, it's good to research the shop before handing over the cash, especially when it's 4 digits worth of cash

 

well do to the high amount of people who are now in to "SR's" and other "jdm" motors much of the product is already in stock in the states. i live in baltimore city and there is a factory with jdm s13, r32 gts-t, type R, and other front clips. so im sure other states like CA and FL have them for sure. for me this is great because i dont have to pay any shiiping. try to look in-state befor you search outside.

sorry for ur ordeal i would f-ing flip out man.

 

to Big Vinnie, i wasn't whinning, i was just spitting out da truth as to what happen to me, it is for other people referrence, not for you to talk down on me so please save your breathe...
the reason i bought my motor from that shop was because i heard a good referral.. but i guess i had to find out for myself...
o btw,,, the maf sensor wasn't lost during shipping, it wasn't there, period

 

I didn't think that I was talking down to you, you are not above or below me in the forums. I just made a justified statement. In my opinion you can do all the research you want on JDM importing, the fact is you are probably buying a used and DOGGED engine.
Besides the fact, if you didn't get your maf in shipping chances are you probably won't get it from that company. Just due to the fact that they strip down the complete packages from the front clips already to sell to the next guy. So you expect a used engines distributor to just hand you another MAF that they don't have?
That was also my point earlier it never came in shipping, but companies set a disclaimer that they arent responsible, weither it was or wasn't there. There is no tracking type for every part when you are buying a COMPLETE engine package. Fact is you could of stayed 49state legit and just gone KADET and saved yourself a FAT headache. All JDM importing does is run into problems, especially when you cant just go to your local wrecking yard to pick up cheap SR parts, (SUCH as that MAF you wanted).
Thats why I say to stop your whining and complaining, when you plan for projects that use engines that arent that abundant in the U.S you should of realized the type of problems you were getting your self into from the begining. As for me I can go get a maf for $25 at any of my local wrecking yards, that my friend is hassle free service.

 

well, in my area, you can;t even go to a local wrecking yard to find a 240sx, and the one that you cna find would be striped or just plain faweked beyond recognition

 

well, i got more bad news, found out that the turbo bearing was shot,,

also at first the timing was off too so couldn;t start the car even, so i had to adjust that sh*t then got it to work and the turbo started leaking **** of oil... o well..

 

...Assuming he got an S13, a SOHC KA MAFS will work fine, and last I checked they're all over junk yards. And quit with the JDM engine importer bashing, proper importers will get you clean *** motors. When I first visited Heavythrottle they had one of the cleanest motors I've seen just sitting on the floor waiting to be sold, and it was one they exchanged because a previous motor didn't meet they're standards. And I do believe you'll get the same thing at Enjuku and Phase2, seeing how they all have the same contacts.

 

Doesn't heavy throttle also sell rebuilts??????
Not bashing, or hating, just expressing that the majority of the companies that sell you a used engine really don't care what they have sold you because it is used........

i already know that you can use the SOHC maf sesnor, but that's not da point, when you state that a SR MAF sensor is included in the purchase, you better damn well have it! it's like buying a pair of shoes and they forgot to include shoe laces, yea u can go buy ur own laces, but aren't they suppose to have it for u? and should they not try to accommodate you?

so please, if you don't feel me or have never been in the same situation, save your wisdom because you obviously donno just how frustrating this is..

o and try not to pose like you know it all, most of what you have to say i already know, i probably even know more than you, so don't...
