Bought my first 240 yesterday!!

Its a maroon/purple 95 LE with all options but heated leather. I LOVE this car! a couple questions/comments

#1 - The drivers side dash rattles on certain RPMS, The muffler is a bit loud n rusty but there are no holes in it.. anyways, how hard would it be to get in there and make sure everything is secure? is that a big job?
#2 - Its slow off the line.. seems like its bogging, then I look at the speedo and im going pretty fast. I just think it needs a tune up.
#3 - If you put it in first gear above 20km/h it grinds HARD, is this how all 240's work or just my car? its not an issue just curious

thats about it! im nit picking, its so awesome.

taking the dash out isnt to big of a deal, if you have basic knowledge of cars it will prolly take you about 2-3 hours your first time, after that itd be like 1 hour lol.

off the line is supposed to be the strong pont, do a tune-up and make sure timing and everything is good

i duno if its all 240s but mine wont let me go into 1st once im past like 5mph and most others ive driven dont let you if your moving at a decent speed, you shouldnt need to it has plenty of torque to do 2nd gear down low...

have fun and enjoy!

Its not THAT slow and maybe im still getting used to the clutch, Ive also owned two modded 5.0L mustangs so im used to tire shredding power. The engine sounds -amazing-, especially at higher rpms.. it sounds like it has VTECH.

As for the dash, something will have to be done. Any idea WHAT could be rattling? its more a vibration then a metalic rattle actually and its only at certain rpms.

thanks

First gear is never an easy gear to back into until your nearly stopped, in any car. What will help, though, is if you engage the clutch, then disengage it right away while in neutral, then shift to first (put foot on clutch, shift into neutral, take foot off clutch, put foot back on clutch, shift into first). Of course, this assumes that the speed you are currently travelling at is accessible in first gear.

By doing this, you take some of the work off of the synchromesh. If it's done perfectly, it'll glide right into gear without any resistance whatsoever.

This is a form of double-(de)clutching.

Enjoy your 240SX - I know I am!

Here she is! the guy scaped up the lip but thats easy enough to paint. its BONE STOCK aside from being lowered. It has mint black leather but I dont think anyone cares about the interior.

If a small rattle is the only thing I have to deal with, im a happy man! oh also a clip on the drivers side door handle is broken or something so its lose when unlocking/opening the door. kinda annoying but apprently only costs $50 w/ labor.
