Brand new to Nissan

Hello everyone. HondaSwap.com recommended me here to learn some info. I'm looking to sell my 94 Accord really soon since it's high-mileage and automatic. I'm looking at a 90 240 5 speed. I know next to nothing on Nissans, so if anyone can tell me the potential with this car, I'd really appreciate it. I know about SR20DET swap and common stuff like that. This one has 76k miles and is red. I looked at it once, but it's currently off the lot so I can't remember if it's HB or sedan. Sorry, but I should find out tomorrow and confirm the price (under 3k).
Thanks,
Nate

sorry bout the post ***** but welcome. The 240sx is a great car and anyone who has one will tell you that. They are reliable and have plenty of potential. They arevery god handeling cars not drag cars by any normal means. If you can find a good running 240 for under 3k with that low of miles go for it..

I will tell you a 240 is not a cheap car to make fast in a straight line but witha little suspention it will be great for AutoX and other events like that... good luck

Yeah, that's what I'm all for. I love auto-x events. That's what I built my Accord for, since it will always be slow. Might as well make it handle awesome.
BTW, what's the bolt pattern for a 90 240? Is it 4x100 or 4x114.3? If so I could still use my rims, which would be awesome.

Not drag cars? From what I've seen your a motor swap away from a low 14 second car, and with a few mods into the 13's. That's pretty damn good and not very expensive at all.

May not be as cheap as a muscle car but it's much more practical for a daily driver.

a simple swap can bring very good times in a 1/4 but there are much better things to do with a 240...

the lig is 4x114.3 not 4x100

most guys/girls chose the 240 to drift because even with a stock motor traction is an issue.
i have a DVD where they test 5 silvias on a drack strip...the silvias with lower hp had better times the the higher HP cars...
it's the way it is.

you can get/build a great drag car with a 240 but it's real purpose was high speed stability and cornering

True, but traction is an issue with most drag cars. That's where slicks and posi comes into play Or at least a heavy duty LSD hehe.

i still feel the car should be used for corners and speed...

I love drifting. Without a LSD, its not as easy, but you can still do it.

Now, if i was you, get a 91 or newer. 89-90 have a SOHC motor that puts out 140hp stock, and the 92+ models have the DOHC 150HP rating. Plus if you plan on doing a swap, the DOHC models seem to be easier. Or you can do what I plan on doing, Turboing KA24E motor. more torque than the SR, but same power potential. Just cost a **** load more to do the full process.
Its very wise of you to switch from the Red R, to the 180SX/Silvia experience
