i am thinking about getting a 240sx shell for less than $1000. the sr20det is selling for $2300 at autolinkmotorsports.com and the installation is $1-$1500. i have $5000 to spend, do you guys think i can do it?

Yes you can...you just answered it like jedi said. But, that is still a tight budget. I would say more like 6k-7k just in case(you never know)

I'd go with what HyJynX said, estimate around 6 to 7k, for emergencay costs, you never know what could happen along the way, youmight need other imported parts, you might need new suspension, you never know, better safe than sorry..
