can I get longer bolts...?

I got a set of wheels, they're the right pattern (4x114.3) but the bolts are too short to get the lug nuts all the way on. Can I get longer bolts to put in??

Yes studs....go to your local autoparts store or http://www.courtesyparts.com/nms/s13/s13_5.html do you know how to change studs? Its not that hard just wondering if you know how...

Bryan 12-20-2005 03:38 PM

like fast1one said, it will be no problem if you get longer wheel studs. There not hard at all to replace, I've done it multiple times, have some pics if you need some help

God 12-20-2005 03:59 PM

pics would be awesome, cuz I dont have the slightest clue?:dunno: THANK YOU!

EDIT: What are the exact sizes I'd need to look for? And what length are on the car stock? What size should I go for...the 50mm or 60mm?

Fast1One 12-21-2005 01:49 PM

Remove caliper, rotor exposing the hub and studs (of course)

I used "Gibbs" Penatrating stuff to loosen up the studs. It was laying around in my garage. WD-40 may work...

Use a mallet/hammer and just hit the studs on the head untill they come off.

When your ready to put ithe new one back on, Insert the stud through the back.

Add a few washers so you wont strip the nut and use an air gun to tighten the nut until the stud is secure in its place.

Thats the best explanation I can conjure. Took me a few minutes...Sorry no pics. Ask s13 240 what size the stockers are and determine what size you need. You can also ask someone at your local autoparts store...

there's something not right if the OEM bolts aren't long enough to put a lugnut on. Are you even sitting the face flat to the hub?

What wheels are they? What car did they come off of? Give more details.

Bryan 12-21-2005 02:03 PM

I'll try to get the pics up and stuff in a bit, but if the pics dont help and you really really need help depending on how close downington is to HBG I may be able to drive out and help you.

God 12-21-2005 02:04 PM

honestly....I dont know what kind of wheels they are. They came off an s13 coupe though.

Thats a good point....check that first lol...

nah, I can get the lug on, but the studs dont go all the way through it. The lugs are only like half threaded on.

Fast1One 12-22-2005 11:49 AM

^^^But are the WHEELS flush with the hub???? If they are, then yeah you need longer studs...Have any pics of the wheels?

God 12-22-2005 11:58 AM

the center of the wheel is flush on the hub, yes.

Fast1One 12-22-2005 07:34 PM

okay....go to your auto parts store and ask for longer studs...if not here.
Scroll to the ARP studs they are cheaper....follow my instructions or ask someone how to do it...

Bryan 12-23-2005 01:41 AM

The arp studs are not right for the 240sx, they are 12.5 X 1.5 while 240's would need studs with 1.25, granted you could still use them but you would have to get all new lugs.

I'll try to get the pics of for you God in a bit, just got off work and gotta pick up my camera with the pics at my friends house.

God 12-23-2005 04:55 AM

no problem, thanks! I had to go out yesterday to get gorilla lugs to fit in the wheel, cuz the lugs are recessed (sp?) into them. The original lugs off the car wont fit.
