car turned off on me

car turned off on me

ok i was heading home after work...came to a light then it just turned off...i had the car in nuetral...so i know i didnt stall out it turned back on and it did it again when i got to my friends house...im thinkin its the starter...kinda stumped so any suggestions would help

a bad ignition coil will act up in this manner when the surrounding temperature gets to a curtain point. the starter is only used to start the car so if it starts fine then you can rule that out as a possibility. the alternator on the other hand can also cause your car to die like that.

the list of possibilities is long so rather than frighten you with everything that could be wrong with your car you should give some more info. that way it can be narrowed down some.

Bad grounding in your electical system can do that too. But to echo what jramos said, tell us more...

Or the battery terminals arent tight enough or are corroded. That will cause exactly the problem you said. My vote is that or the alternator.
