car want start

i have a 92 240sx. i recently rebuilt the engine and just dropped it back in the car. it turns over fine and is gettin gas but its not firing from the coil. The coil is good cause it has power going to it and from it. what could be the problem for it not to spark.

check to see if your ignitor is hooked up.

also check to make sure your CAS wires are not damaged. seems to happen alot in swaps and or rebuilds.

lastly ( its a word i think) run an OBD check it will tell you whats wrong.

check your battery clamps. beat on things until it works, that usually solves things

the Cas wires run into the distributor on your car

also yea check your battery terminals for a good connection.. if they are super corroded.. change them out.

ok guys, checked the bat. cables, good shape. checked the cas wires, no problem there. put the coil on another 240 and it sparked fine. I pullthe coil wire off the dizzy put it close to ground on my 240 and no spark, I put a volt meter in the end of the coil wire and it checks ou ok. What might the problem be. thanks for all the help so far.

that means your CAS is more than likely dead.. please run a OBD check bro. it will tell you whats wrong. a write up is in the how to section just search ECU diagnostic

swap the distributor and make sure you line up the rotor button just like the current one. and or it will be out of phase ( timing )

turn the key and SMILE!!!!!

just make sure!!!!! you check the base of the wires for the dizzy/cas plug.. one time on the back side of one of the wires down at the base, it was separated and pretty much hanging on by one strand of wire lol.. but i couldn't see it... so carefully visually inspect it.. if the plug is all go.. than its the CAS it self.

if your wires are messed up.. you can use the plug from an KA powered Altima... as they seem to be in junkyards more than 240's these days.

got it fixed... the gear that turns the dizzy was not turning. Took the top timing cover off, took the bolt from the center of the gear and it looks as if there should have been a high spot in the center of the washer to keep it from tightening against the gear. Mine was worn flat so i cut down a second washer to hold thegear assembly without touching the gear... works great for now. biggamehit, thanks for all your help, without it i'd still be stuck.
