i've had the car for two weeks and the clutch is already slippin. damn. anyway, what's a good clutch upgrade? i was thinking ACT or Unorthodox Racing.

4-pad, 6-pad, twin disc...what duz it all mean?

 

ACT is a VERY good clutch. Alot of people use them in Honda/Acura race setups. So you cant go wrong I have heard nothing bad about them, BUT i have heard bad things about Centerforce and some other companies who make cluthches.

 

This is the clutch that I am running now. I am very happy with the clutch. Grabs nice and the peddle feel is a little softer than stock.

I agree with Stan. I had recommended it to Stan and have it on one of my 240s and am getting it for my other one. Stage II SPEC you can get from Enjuku Racing.

 

how duz it compare to others?

 

It has a clutch plate that looks like the act and clutchmaster's stage III with a stage II spring. I think it is the best of both worlds.

I want the durability but don't need the strength of the springs. I am not a drag racer and don't want to have my left calf the size of my thigh with the right looking like a twig.

 

how much harder duz it grab then the stock clutch?

 

well the pedal feel is lighter than stock, which is amazing, since it holds about 267 lb of torque. It grabs very fast even with my lightened flywheel. I know they are a few others out there with the clutch that also loved it.

 

I have beat on it mostly in the rain to break traction but I have when it is dry.

I snapped the clutch when going into a hard turn cutting a guy off. There was a sound like a whip cracking. I was impressed that it held with me pushing it like a did.

 

i think i'm looking for something a little more stiff. my goal hp out of the car is 280 from a KA24DET. anyone had any expierences with the unorthodox racing clutches?

 

the ACT clutches perform very well, and if you are keeping the stock flywheel, you may want to go with a stage III from ACT... it will hold plenty of torque, and boost should you add it. It'll be rather stiff, and should engage a lot faster then the stock clutch.

Its my understanding that... putting an aftermarket clutch on a stock transmission can do some serious damage.......and the whole reason you bought the clutch in the first place(to replace your stock broken one) has come back to bite you.....and anyway if you have nothing HP wise done to the car why would you put an aftermarket clutch on thats only purpose is to improve your burnouts.....H e L L are cars are allready RWD what more could you ask for........

I could see someone doing damage to their tranny because now their clutch grabs and they can abuse it more than the stock one that was shot. I think it is like any other mod.

When you improve one item in a system you must prep any other ruined or hurt component. The new item will speed up the damage taken by the already damaged.

Example:

I changed my shocks to coilovers and had to change my already hurt tires because I wore the treads away quicker. Now I have to change swaybars after last night.

 

I second that from Stan. I have seen people upgrade and put in a nitrous kit for example and don't take care of the proper fuel mixture and blow up their engines. Once you start changing things other things must be looked at.

I am a fan of using all Nissan Factory stuff(tune up materials and other things, but in the event of the clutch going, it would only make an upgrade rather than hurt anything.
