I did not find an actual capacity listed for my 240 either in my maint book or on the car...however as an A/C Technician I will tell you that you would be much better off if you had the system checked for leaks, have the R-12 recovered out of the system and have it converted over to R-134...R-12 is very expensive due to it's ozone depletion factor being so high....the conversion kits that can be purchased at your local auto parts store are usually very good kits that include a seal conditioning and stop leak agent in the refrigerant charge...if the system is properly evacuated and recharged with the R-134 from teh kit you should not notice a significant difference in the performance of your A/C system when compared to a correctly charged and working R-12 system....it is true though that htere will be some difference as R-134 is not quite as efficient at removing heat from the air. I hope this helps...I have converted mine and it saved me alot of money as you can no longer buy R-12 in 12oz cans it is only avail in 30# cylinders and the last time I priced those a few years ago for purchase it was up to $300 and I just bought a 30# cylinder of R-134 for less than $100 good luck and happy cooling

Mike

P.S. do NOT mix R-12 and R-134...they do not work thatway and it will cause serious dmage to your A/C system and will require alot of replacement parts and cleaning to get your system back in working condition

Why do you need to know?
You are not an authorized to transport, use or install it. Telling you how much it takes would technically make us an accessory to a criminal offense.

Spend the cash & do it legally.

Actually im taking my heating and A/C class at Lincoln Tech, I will actually have my lisence in a few weeks. I was considering doing the r12 to r134a conversion. I was trying to find the capacity just for my own piece of mind. Also I didnt have a chance to get the info on Alldata yesterday. So, rest your worries, im not looking to illegally transport freeon.

well since you are studying to become an A/C Technician...should you not have labeled this post "refrigerant" ? Also you used the brand name Freon...lol...I'm gonna tell your instructor on you...lol

when I was in class for Auromotive systems our instructor would jump our case whenever we said Freon when referring to the refrigerant in our systems...one of the lines he used was "How do you know they put Freon in there?"
