I am getting a 240 finally. and i plan to get a "nismo" wheel. my question is. if you put on a wheel and don't tell your insurance company. then u get in an accident. do they not insure u anymore?well thats what my friend claims.and if you tell them u don't have airbags, what happens to your rates?is it if the car doesn't come with them then thats the only time it's ok?then i was also wondering what about if u install a wheel/harness combo ?

 

I hear in most states, if your car comes with airbags it is illegal to swap your steering wheel to one without airbags. I can't help with the insurance question though.

 

hmm so therefore aftermarket wheels are illegal? its weird because it seems like quite a few people have them.

 

Aftermarket steering wheels are mostly marketed as "Off Road Use Only", but then again so are most parts that people put on they're vehicles. It may not be legal to have it on a street vehicle in some states but thats like saying don't drive 10 over the speed limit, not everyone is going to listen.

I know several people who have aftermarket steering wheels on cars that did have airbags and never heard of them getting in trouble for them, although cops don't really hassle people here for things like that.

I have an afermarket steering wheel in my car, however s13's did not come with air bags. I've been pulled over once in my car and the cop did not say anything about it, didn't even look twice.
