i've heard the sohc has a wider power band and lighter flywheel which helps it keep up and sometimes even beat dohc ka's...i noe mileage and driving plays a major role but many dohc owners admit to losing to sohc several times when they hav similar mods...wat u guys think? i dunno enuff about these engines to really come to my own conclusion..

 

yea, ive been reading this argument on another forum, got me smiling. the argument claims that the sohc beats dohcs cause it has a lighter flywheel and a lighter engine. but i cant back it up, i havent raced anyone with my sohc as of yet.

 

I raced a SOHC owner twice, and beat him both times. I guess it depends on the driver really. Oh and by the way the race wasn't even close.

I had: Injen intake and extension. Full Greddy exhaust. UR underdrive pulley.

He had: Injen intake. Apexi' N1 exhaust (cat-back).
OBX short shifter. JWT programmed ECU.

 

My friend has an sohc coupe... i have the dohc coupe... maybe i can get him to run it with me and we'll see what happens. I think i would spank him silly with my mods but stock vs stock... his car is really strong compared to how mine was (maybe because he has a 5spd). I know for some all motor applications if you really wanted to tune those sohc's, they whip some serious A$$! PDM has wicked cam setups for sohc, which produce way more power than any dohc cam package i've seen. I'm gonna see if i can get him to give me a run at it, ill post the results.

 

cool i'd really like to noe the results..anyways does anyone noe the differences between the sohc and dohc motors? like flywheel... compression..anyhing?
