engine's pissed i washed it
Help. 92 240 SE, stock engine. So, I washed my engine today. yes, I covered my distributor with a grocery bag, but still managed to get distributor wet!! It started, ran like poo poo, so I popped the cap off, dried it off, replaced cap, and it still ran like poo-poo, not as bad as before, but misses, lacks power off the start, has lots of hesitation, bucks, has moments where it starts to feel like its acceleration just fine, then cuts back. What's going on?? This was at noon, and its 12 hours later, still acting the same. Ive had the cap off like 5 times, and the plug wires. I figured if it were water someplace it would have dried up by now. I have spark going to every plug, tonight I checked it at idel by pulling spark plug "boots" and watching the arc to the valve cover.
So, anything else I may have gotten wet that would make my car run like that? Any ideas

it's the spark plugs. you need to replace them and spray some wd-40 in the chambers to dissapate the water. it'll pass through really quickly. then just go cruisin so the engine can heat all the way up and it should be fine.
i'd be surprised if this wasn't it because i've washed my altima engine twice and did this twice.
hope it works for you.

Airfilters fine, it never got wet as it was in it's stock air box. I pulled the plugs like you said, they didnt look wet at all. Car's still acting up. Check engine light is not coming on. Car's exhaust smells nasty. Damn I frikking hate when stupid crap happens like this!!

Problem FIXED. I noticed a crackeling noise when i turned on my Radio (which I rarely ever do), and remebered that plug wires have a coating to prevent radio interference. stopped by Nissan to see how much plug wires were $130.00!!!!! Went to Auto Zone, $41.00. Replaced wires, cap, and rotar..problems went away immediately. When I had taken cap off to dry it out, I must have cracked a tired plug wire.
