exhaust/downpipe install questions

I'm purchasing the Greddy Evolution TR II Exhaust System and looking for a decently priced downpipe. I'm wondering is the downpipe even necessary? I heard that the downpipe is a downfall to those who aren't pushing 250+ hp. But nontheless...I need a complete exhaust system that will be suitable for a future rb20/rb25 swap and I was wondering if anyone can give me the walkthrough for the do-it-yourself install on the downpipe and exhaust...thanks!

To my knowledge downpipes are necessary, and this is the order that it goes. Downpipe, cat/test pipe then exhaust(...i think?). Pretty much just put it in the right order, put the lil gaskets between em and thats it. Pretty easy if you ask me, just make sure you put the exhaust hangers on correctly.
