exploring my options...
OK, i have been really struggling with my decision on what to do with my car... motorwise. At first i was looking into the s13 sr20det... this would be the logical move... but it is done alot. I have been looking into the possibility of a skyline motor... but as it turns out, i'm finding it will cost alot more than i originally thought... so scratch that idea. now the only real option left is for me to do a sick combo on the KA motor. However the flaw with this is that my motor has 100k+ miles on it. If i can tear down this motor... replace it with low comp pistons... x beam rods... etc... and throw an NSPORT turbo kit on it, then use some juice on top of that, now that would be original. Im talking about boosting around 18-19 psi for racing and using the bottle for emergencis. The full engine rebuild along with turbo kit costs 7 grand. thats roughly the cost of an rb26dett. Now with some juice... 650-700 dollars for a small shot system. How do u think it would work out? I think i can look at around 350-360HP w/o juice, with the small shot, 50-75, maybe i can hit 400. The big question is, if i totally tear down this engine and rebuild it, can it handle this? I just want to be original, i am looking at spending close to 10 grand on this, which is about the cost of just dropping the skyline motor in. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

yeah you can reach your HP goals with the turbo set-up and rebuild. in another thread

I was also thinking going with the nsport kit, stage 3 which can get upwards of about 25 pounds of boost. 7000 just Parts for the kit MSRP. but HP wise what does 25 pounds turn into HP #'s in a KA. Plus there is labor on top of the NSPORT kit.
SR motor done a lot,TRUE. I know the SR is good for power and you will pay around 7000 for it to run reliably and with about 12-15 lbs of boost.
