Can someone knowledgeable in paints explain to me the difference between a flake and a pearl...lets say if I was to paint my car black with a gold flake vs black with a gold pearl...what would be the difference in the resulting paint jobs?

 

the difference between the paint would be that the one w/ the flake would have little spots of gold all over and the pearl one would kinda make your car look like a really dark brown (i think).

I think this Pearl is over a white base coat,
EDIT#2 it is a gold pearl

 

pearl is a more clean look... when you do flake its a very agressive outcome. the reason i said pearl looks clean is becuase its some what suttle but when you see it in the sun its beautiful. i had a 91 blazer that was corvette white with a blue pearl on it. Very nice
