just go to the automotive store and grab some flat black paint. I'm gonna sand mine down and shoot it with primer black. (89 hatch)

since you are painting flat black, what kind of sandpaper are you getting(grit)

?

God 12-04-2005 05:34 PM

prolly gonna hit it first with like 4-500, then go up to something really fine like 1200, then spray it.

you better not d*mnit

anyways... do it right, and have a painter paint it flat black. Spray paint and real auto paint are totally different

Mine's gradually getting a rattle-can paint job - it's flat black, but with a twist, since I'm using chalkboard paint. Easy to write on for race days, and easy to clean up afterwards...

Dont go to fine, you need to still give the paint something to hang onto. I've rattle canned two cars that have since seen some show action, and i usually paint after wet sanding with 600 water and a drop of soap.

wow 15.0 that is some fury......

ZenkiOwns 12-05-2005 05:19 AM

There was an article in a magazine a while back saying how to do it the "right" way with spray paint. they did it on an STI if I remember correctly. IMO I think its a ghetto paint job but hey, it's your car. I think they still ended up spending like 150-200 on materials though.

DriftorDieTryin has id done on here, bur it was done the right way.

That's why it's funny. ;)

Actually, it runs mid-14's, but I was sandbagging like crazy. I actually won that race, and got $300.

yea my friend was speakin of some type of flat black you can get its the kind of stuff the military uses on hummers and stuff like that etc. but i dont believe its aerosol (spray paint) but he was sayin that radar detectors etc. wont pick it up like it deflects the signal or somethin crazy you can get. sounded interesting but didnt know if it was a tall tail...i live like 5 minutes away from ft bragg and i know the military got some crazy technology but that would be kind of dope if its true he also said the finish is kind of glossy but not really he said it looks real stealth-like im gonna look into it hopefully im not wasteing my time

total BS the military never releases the formula of jet black found on fa17
