this is vBulletin, I think its about 300 for the cheapest version.

 

DAMN. How do these guys run these sites for free?

 

 

I ask the question because I know that many get money from advertising and some ask for donations. I would just like to know if this is a business that someone sets up with hopes of covering the server/software expenses and maybe making a profit?

 

i think the more people logging on and out get them money somehow... i doubt anyone would just spend their money to keep this up for the hell of it.... there has to be somehow the organizer of this is getting money... or breaking even....

 

well sometimes, it just done for the love of it. Like myself, I pay every month for the website. I don't ask for anything, I just do it to promote the import scene. SO sometimes it can be done just for the love of it all, and this site has no advertisements so who knows?

There's the answer. Right now my server costs are not too much. But if the monthly bandwidth were to climb to like 30gigs then we would need to upgrade and end up paying like $200/month for a dedicated server

Even if that day arrives, we'll think of something to keep this club alive.

 

Why not start up some advertising. I would click on some links while reading my posts.

 

well when the club does blow and i get promoted from junior member, i'll pay dues to keep things movin. not an arm and a leg though!

 

I am a member of pbnation.com. They ask for donations from members who can do it. You donate and they post a donation gif under your username.
