Question Found an 91 240sx for $500.....

Here is what i saw wrong with it....

Sunroof is Missing....roof taped with Duct Tape.
Muffler looks like it is falling off.
Interior looks like Crap. Would basically need an entire new interior.

It is a 5 speed. It does not have pwr windows.

I have not driven it, but the seller says it drives great.

It has 165,000 miles.

No obvious body damage other then normal wear and tear.

No rust visible from a walk around inspection.

Seller is asking $500 for it.

I just bought an 89 5speed with 160,000 miles on it.
Has multiple body dings/dents. Interior is about a 4 out 10. Looks like it was in an accident even though the seller said it wasn't.
Paid $1350 for it.

Do you think I should get the 91? and sell the 89? How hard is it to replace a sunroof?
There is a junkyard by my house that has one with a sunroof I think so i could get it from there.

Also.....OTHER then the Engine being a DOHC and the 89 being a SOHC and the front bumpers being slightly different, are there any other differences?

I'd buy it, worth $500 for the extra parts alone.

Buy the $500 car that is great. You can sell the old one or just keep it for a parts car. Strip the **** out of it and sell the shell.

I would love to find a running $500 parts car.

Well I will tell u that a sunroof is VERY VERY expensive and that it costs a lot for someone to mess with. That is partly the reason for me having a second one. THe sunroof was leaking and hard for sometime to fix and then when I wanted it fixed it was a lot of $$$ for a beaten up 240. I will eventually fix it, but it becomes a major headache.

Personally, I'd buy it for 500. And keep the car you have. Sell parts, make some of the money back. Take it apart, learn the workings of the 240, make it a project car, whatever. Sounds like a lot of fun for 500 dollars.
