take the 5 or so grand you were gonna spend on the S15 motor/mission and get your self a good 180sx black top motor for about $2,500 and spend the rest on modds...

I wouldn't do S15 conversion on any 240 chasis.

Because they are different cars. The s13 and s14 are the only chasis that made it to the US. We stopped getting 240's in 1998 and they started building the s15 in 1999.

It can be done but my question for you before we go into deep conversation into this, is how much money do you have to spend? No offense but I have gotten into to many of these conversations with 16 year old kids with a dream and a job at Burger King. Basically, conversions like these take alot of funds, and resources/hookups.

Hi "silviaboi".....you know, "autobot" is absolute correct and couldn't agreed more regards to s15 conversion. I have S15 in Japan (Spec R with L package). Compare my S15 with my US Spec. 1991 S13s are like comparing EVO VII vs. US Spec Lancer...heehee. Only similarities are both cars have front engine & it's rear driven tranny cars. That's it..... Ok...Do swap engine with SR20DET, but that's all you can do !!!
If you REALLY want to do S15 conversion, with about $10,000 in your pocket (at least), let's start.....complete front conversion that's including the hood and flares and lights, side doors and rear flares (wider than 14s/13s), complete rear light kit and body panel including the trunk lid. Those are just body parts. You need to get a set of spacers for widen your wheel wells due to wider fenders, rear wiper, side mirrors and A pillar adjustment....OK..may be I'm goin in TOO much detail, but you know where I'm gettin, ya??
That's alot of CASH we're talking about !!! Let me try to import S15s thru my company (abflug) and I'll sell you one for alot less than your conversion cost. Hows that !!!!
Whatever you have, s13 or s14, I would stick with its original body and fix it up. You can make your car looks so much tighter without cutting and welding the body!!! LAtez JAY

welll... refering to the original question.....lol.

All sr's drop right in to any 240 chassis. The only real concern would be the wiring, but if you MUST have the ever so popular (with newbies) 6 speed tranny then you'll need the drive train (drive shaft, speedo sensor, diff, blah blah blah). So basically if you want an sr forget the s15 it's too much money and way too much trouble with the 6 speed. Stick to the s14 atleast, or better yet, the s13.

If that is the case, the 5spd tranny is a better tranny then the 6 speed tranny anyways. Stick with an sr20det red top. With the money you save, you can build that motor.

Hey guys, thanks for all ur posts... i was only reffering to the engine and tranny........ and i was wondering if you could use the S15 engine and use like an s14 tranny, instead of the 6speed? sorry for the newbie questions.

Word is that is what a lot of builders in Japan do, toss the 6 speed. It is supposidly weak. They didn't increase the size when they tossed in the extra gear and (supposidly) gear six is weak.

But like the others have said. Save yourself some cash and get an s14 SR20DET. They will have less milage and slightly more power than the S13, and are newer. They do cost a little more. The S13 SR is the most popular due to price mainly and it is a red top.

Let us know what you decide.

to do a full front conversion to an S15 does not cost that much, although it is better just to do the engine, with the same amount of money you can get like 300hp in an S14. I have done the S15 conversion and at the moment I regret putting all that money into the show, and not enough go. I have a naturally apirated KA I got about 220hp.
