Angry hatch sounds. annoying...

Hey guys. I have a 91 se hatch. Ever since I got my coilovers every bump I go over it sounds like my hatch is lifting up and slamming back down onto the frame. It sounds pretty bad.

I was wonder if anyone else has encountered this kind of problem. And if so I would like to know any solutions to fixxing it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advanced.

put more rubber between the hatch and the rest of the car. the hatch cant slam back down if there is pressure being applied upwards when it is at the highest point it can be when closed.

and wtf is a kamikazi?

Are you sure its the hatch making the noise? Maybe clunking from your subframe due to old bushings?

maybe. i'll check. this is possible due to harder suspension knocking around the frame harder right?

correct,

try getting a set of subframe spacers

www.splparts.com

or even ebay ones work as long as they fit.

if i just get the subframe spacers then i won't need subframe bushings?

if i do need bushings also, then is it better to go with polyurethane or aluminum? don't aluminum bushings make more noise though?

sorry for all of these questions. im still new to these things.

You don't need to get bushings if you get the spacers, you can run them with your stock ones. Anything more stiff than the stock bushings will produce more noise. Aluminum/Solid bushings being the worst.

spacers = solid bushings

get that for a rougher but better handling ride

polyurethane inserts for a streetable ride with improved handling

it all depends on the trade off youre willing to make and live with.
