Headlights on a S13

Both the hi beam filaments on my 92 SE are gone and I need to get some replacement bulbs ..

Does any of you have upgrades on the headlight .. How difficult is it to move to the BMW style 'white lights' .. Is it as simple as just getting a different bulb or is it more involved ..

Thanks guys ..

well you can get the h4 conversions. they are a replacement for the sealed beam that is currently there and are about 60 I think. Check www.enjukuracing.com

You will then need H4 bulbs for the conversions and the "white lights" your talking about are actually HID lights (High Intensity Discharge) You can get a kit for the H4 housing but the H4 kit is about $400. You can get a set of like PIAA super plasma's or something for like 40-100 and they give a similiar effect obviously not as bright as the HID but better than stock.

I have a design for HIDs in a 240 that I am working on. I will post my findings and results when I am done.

Installing a HID kit in your car will cause you to loose your hi beams.

The new Catz kit has high and low beam for the H4 bulb kit. I'm pretty sure Philips has a high and low kit too.

I have worked with the Catz unit. It is pretty nice but I am wary about pushing that much juice thru the stock bulbs. Plus the housings might not like the heat.

No I'm not talking about the Zeta line. They introduced true HID. http://fet-usa.com/news_reviews.asp

Stanbo : Have you already converted the factory sealed beam to a H4 housing ..
If so what H4 conversion kit did you use .. Atleast for the time being I am hoping to get a H4 conversion done with some Xenon/Pure white bulbs ..

Eurolights offers the package for $59 .. Any ideas on how good this kit is likely to be ..

If you have the money to blow on HIDS do it. They are not cheap. They run you the risk of getting a ticket. They run the risk of failing inspection. They run you the risk of getting your *** beat up for highbeaming a nut on the highway.

I have a H4 conversion from Bosche. I got it from Don Nimi @ PDM Racing.

I think it cost me all of $60. The Bosche is a nice kit. Go for Hella if they make one as well.

HIDs are nice. I have had them in many cars. They are ok when you just slap them in but stellar if you hook them up right.

I am working on a best bang for your buck system now.

I will post the results as I do the work.

I have the Hella H4's and they cost me like 125 or so, but that was like 3 years ago. They are good quality and have never failed me yet. Actually still haven't blown a bulb yet. So they have been worth the money so far.

Also that Catz kit looks good, hi beam and low. nice.

Lots of $$ for HID, worth it but not instead of something like HP
