some JDM flavor...

I just got back from this local JDM engine importer... I had a field day! There was an S14 front clip there!!! No engine or tranny, no ecu and all the good stuff... however, i was able to pick up some goodies... The thing was right hand drive, it was so weird looking at it anyways, i picked up an S14 silvia digital climate control, a S14 silvia steering wheel, green Silvia logo for hood, and last but not least, the Kilometer gauge cluster and tach. All together i paid 100 bucks. I think i got a good deal out of it.

The parts you got are great for that price. I have not seen anyone get that digi climate control to work on a USDM car. Good luck. If you do it post pics of that bad boy working.

If you don't mind what JDM dealer did you go to. Hit me with a PM if you don't want to shout the name out.

I got everythign for $100.00. A VERY good deal... the silvia steering wheel doesnt have the Airbag, and the horn is a different shape (smaller and more circular). Something tells me I'm gunna hafta get new hub... just a gut feeling. I just put the gauge cluster in, it works great. The one difference is it has a 7grand redline, the Ka redlines at 6500. That 7 grand will be usefull down the road though There is also a sport exhaust or w/e icon instead of over drive icon. Ill take some pics. The digi-climate control is going to be reaalllly hard to do. there is like 30 wires I hafta match and I also have been told that I need to pick up two Temp. Sensors from the dash. in the Silvia. Im going to go back to the place and see if I cant find out what their talking about. Last but not least the green S emblem is going on the aerogear hood in feb. when i send the car into the shop.

OK... my stock tachometer from the '95 240sx SE has a redline of 6500.... I picked up an S14 Silvia (95-96 bodystyle) gauge cluster, and the tach in that one has a 7000 redline.

**** I have never been able to look at the tach when it is redlining. Eyes are elsewhere. Hands are flailing.

Well doesn't the SR redline at 7000rpm's? That would explain it if you purchased a JDM cluster. I think someone also said that their redline was 7500rpm. He was from the UK I think. Looks like a 500rpm difference between everyone.

"Hands flailing" LOL thats great! Yeah i guess it is different between the cars. 7500 is pretty nice, they're getting into honda territory there... i wish my car revved up that high.
