Ok, so this might be a dumb question, but I recently bought a 2.5" HKS Super Drager catback exhaust for my 96. I was wondering if I need to put heat shields on it because the pipe runs pretty close to the gas tank.

You shouldnt have to worry about it... your gas tank isnt gonna blow up

 

Dude you gotta put them on, you'll get like 15 hp and 12 lb-ft of tq by doing it. It'll also b JDM Tyte yo.

Nah seriously, it's preference. If you want to put it on, put it on. If not, it's not gonna matter too much.

Heat shields?! What are those? Kidding.. I took mine off. They do nothing but rattle anyway. Annoyance.

ditto for the cat shield, but on longer drives, floorboard drivers side tend to get hot, esp during summer

I had a rattle but it wasn't the heat shield! SHOCKED!!! I had to get a new resonator.. And a girl?? on here?!? WOW!! hey u!
