Help finding a 240 sr20

Hey, I'm brand new to this forum and I actually dont have a 240 yet, but I am dead set on getting one ASAP. I plan on selling my truck and hopefully putting some money I save this summer towards a 240 with the sr20 already swapped into the car. The only thing is that I'm not sure exactly what I should expect for my price range which is say 5-8 thousand. I def. do want to find a streetable, clean and somewhat reliable sr20 though. What year etc... do you guys think I should expect for that price? Thanks

Ross

s13 you will find for that price, possibly s14 for around the 7-8 grand mark. U may want to consider getting one without a swap, and even if u dont put it in yourself have a shop do it. Usually if people have swapped the motor, they probably have beaten on it. And if you get a reliable shop then they will warranty it to a certain extent. Where are you located? Maybe some people could help point you to a reputable shop if we know where u live.

I live in Clemson, SC its in the north western part of SC. I had thought about originally buying one with a ka24, but the only thing is is that I'm not sure about the whole idea of swapping a sr20 in myself and it sounds like getting a shop to do it would be expensive. The other thing is that whether I did the swap myself or got a shop to do it, I wouldn't have a car etc... Also tools etc... if i did a swap... What do u think about the idea doing a swap as a first timer? I've heard it can be very involved and also very expensive etc....
