so im finaly finished doing everything on my rb swap an i went to start it for the first time an the starter just span an so i had it checked out an the solenoid was bad so i got a new starter brand new out of the box an put it on hooked the wires an stuff up..... when i went to start it it made a clank noise? when i turnen the key farward it made the noise an when i turned it back it made another clank. idk after three or four times it just started spinning just like the other starter.... r u suppose to mesh the flywheel ring gear teeth up with the pinion gear teeth or something

 

dont know exactly what you're asking....
well, when you turn the key to start your car,the pinion gear on the starter moves out and turns the flywheel by the teeth that are on the outside of the flywheel.

 

sorry, i know that part but im saking why its not turning it an what ya think the clank noise is
