help! trunk release

I have a 1998 240sx and my trunk popper doesnt open my trunk...the lever moves the cable, even in the trunk but for some reason, it wont open the lid. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I once had a problem like yours and the cause of it was that the trunk its self didnt fit rite because it was slightly bent.

Is the wire connected to the trunk?

I had a problem like this in my G20. the actual solenoid in the trunk that pops open the lock got bent. I just took a pair of plyers and bent it back.

As far as I know, the trunk isn't bent, the wire moves in the trunk, and it is a mechanical lock not electrical, so I don't think I have a sylenoid that pops it....but then again, I can't figure out what isnt working because all the parts move......

Fold your rear seat down, and crawl into the trunk with a flashlight. Try finding a black lever or switch close to the trunk lock. Just try pushing it down or pulling it up. Its some kind of anti-theft device or something where you can't get into the trunk at all, not even the owner. If that doesn't work... L'ville Slugger.

I have the same problem too with my hatch. I think it's the hydraulic shocks on the side of the hatch that's probably worn out. When i took out my foam stock spoiler, the trunk would pop open, but when i installed a 180sx spoiler, it wouldn't pop open anymore. I think the spoiler might be the problem too.

If i have to open my trunk, i just put a soda can on the lever and go around the back and lift my hatch. That's the only way i can open my trunk if i'm by myself. I'm thinking of putting springs on the rubber stopers on the hatch. It's like how the front of the hood operates. It just pops it out juss enough for your fingers to lift the trunk.
