Hmm, installing strut bar

Ok, I cant get the nuts off the strut towers to install the bar. They are on really tight. Anyone else have this problem? Do I need better tools or something?

Nevermind, I got them off. Got an extension for the ratchet.

Wow, I'm amazed, a strut bar makes a HUGE difference in handling.

Yeah it definitely stiffens up the chassis and fells a lot more tighter. What STB do you have and also do you have any other suspension mods?

Well, I got a no brand strut bar off ebay, but it specifically fits the S14. The brackets fit perfectly. I remember Import, you saying in another post that you should buy a more expensive strut bars made for ur car because the connections on the bar get loose on the cheaper ones and you always have to adjust it. However, when I read the post I had already bought the strut bar that I have now, so here it is.

It's worked really well for its price though, very stiff. I guess only time will tell how the bar holds up. I'll post a pic of the installed bar once i get a chance to take a picture of it.

if you want, check out the ones on ebay, I got the one from procarparts seller for 30 shipped.

And no, i dont have any other suspension mods. After I put in an exhaust, my next step will be springs and shocks. Question, waht are coilovers?

theres different types of coilover setups. basically its a sleeve with rings that u can adjust in order to vary the ride height. very useful if u can adjust them to meet ur needs not only aesthetically but for performance.

so coilovers can be used in place of shocks and springs?

Well they are used instead of springs. Basically they are adjustable springs, so u can have it really slammed or higher. You will still need shocks, unless you get a complete coilover setup that come with it all in one, i.e. TEINS, ZEAL, Apex'i, Cusco.

Do Not Get the Arospeed ones(sell on ebay all the time, usually yellow), because they really suck, and bounce a lot and definitely will degrade your ride instead of an upgrade.

If your going to go with coil-overs. Get the Ground Controls, aside from the full body setups (i.e. Tein, Koni race, Apexi, Cusco) these are the best setup on the market. There especialy cool because you can order custom spring rates.

only prob with GC's is you're still limited by struts/ shocks that'll handle them, especially with S14's.

If the bar has an adjustment nut on it see if you can double nut it. That might keep it from working it's way out of the bar. Locktite is also another solution.
