i got my 240 running, and took it out for a drive. i get out and go to lock the doors on the inside( no pl), shut the door, and i realized that the door came unlocked when i shut it.

i feel like the car has 2 keys and i only have one.

my ignition kep opens my doors and hatch & starts the car. but if you lock the car from the inside and then just close the door it will unlock.

you can, its just most older cars have a annoying little thing where if you lock your car from the inside and close the door normally it unlocks itself, so you have to hold the handle up as you close the door and it will stay locked.

it was intended to keep you from locking your keys in the car. lol like that really helps that is why i started carring 2 keys with me 1 on my keyring and 1 in my pocket

You can lock it with the key, or at least you should be able to. On both of my 240s it took a good amount of pressure to turn the lock. On all 3 nissans I have ever owned I had to hold up the handle to keep the door locked.

Go to a locksmith and have them Code your key.

They should be able to cut you a key that will work.

I just had 2 keys made for mine, the original was so wore down that they could cut directly from it, so the "coded" it and cuts me new ones...

Also, the 240SX is old enough so Nissan doesn't have the Key Codes (for cutting) off the VIN .... I tried that too

Also make sure that your ignition wasn't replaced at some point. It may be that your ignition is just a different key. Can you unlock the doors with the key, or did you just never figure out how to lock the doors at all?
