How far did you go?
About 40 or 50 miles to check it out. Two days to have the car put on a rack to check out the underside and make sure there where no bends, twists, rust or other things I didn't want to pay the asking price. Same distance amount to come back two days later with $4000 cash and drive home with a 96 zenki s14 that was very clean with vlsd a brand new clutch installed and an empty tank of gas. Drove home that night (i'm night blind) in the rain with my first RWD and my first manual transmission.
Love the car, body was in good condition, mechanically sound, all stock, price was fair and miles where not too high. Bought it and never looked back.
Looked at a 90 s13 the week before that. Car was in beautiful shape and less than 20 minutes from my house but had some mechanical issues. (A/C relays not working properly and clicking like mad, rough idle and something just didn't feel right in my gut)
Also looked at a beautiful 91 300zx 10 minutes from my house. Loved it but it had alot of clicking from inside the dash, A/C kept kicking on and off and the nail in the coffin.... Automatic.... I had to have a manual. Again, I thought about it but had that sick feeling in my stomach again and just couldn't put my finger on what was wrong...
Always follow that gut feeling... I didn't in the past and it always left me screwed in the long run. Have anything you question and don't understand checked. It will save you pain and money in the long run!

crazy stuff... I bought my car sight unseen... I had the money and everything ready before i even saw it..drove 350 miles not really knowing what condition it was in, other than what the guy told me.. not a thing was wrong with it.
all it did was test drive it around the block look at tires/brakes, checked oil and looked for usual rust when I got there. left about 15 minutes later with it.

i went outside and saw a rare Navy blue '89 240 and juss thought id ask the guy if he wants to sell it. he sed ok and sed $500 (body is mint, 133,000 miles) talked to em a couple times after that and he decided to give it to his daughter then a couple months later he comes and tells me $100 for the car, motor doesnt run. I put my hand in my pocket and gave em 100 bucks, took the keys, title and then towed the car to my "garage"
so altogether i spent about 130 bucks for it.
(car didnt run cus of a cracked timing cover and the fluids were mixing)

paid 6k for my 1993 240sx. drove 50 miles. bought it from an old guy. car has 25k miles on it and was in pristine condition. i had to literally beg the guy for the car. but in the end it is the greatest car ever. 5spd man. windows and doors. stock everything no lsd. im going to really hate modding this car. but i cant deal with stock
Wow... 25K miles? that's crazy... it's hard to find a 98 with that low of miles. too bad it's not an SE, but still... I'm like you, it was hard to start modding a car in perfect condition... but that's why I bought it.
Exactly!!! this car is beautiful, and i hate to taint it with parts but, that is why i bought it. so i could have fun with it. when i saw this car i about sh** myself on how nice it was. i litterally could have put a white clove on and ran my finger under the car and very little dirt would have came off. he never drove it in the rain. the guy bought it when he was 70ish so he never drove it hard and recorded EVERYTHING he did to it. tire rotations, spark plugs, everything. i was the 2nd caller and 1st person to see it. the guy liked me so much that he actually sold it for $500 less than what someone else was offered. the reason why is cause i helped him to move cause his movers flaked on him and he had only this weekend to move. so i offered to help.

Have any pictures of it?
I wish I wouldn't have had to leave my town to get a 240... but that was acually the closest one in good condition... I've seen every 240 in my town.. there's
SIX 89-90's, 2 coupes
TWO 91-93's, and 1 coupe
TWO 95-96's...
that's it a whole 10 of them, not including mine... not a single 97-98..

I went pretty far and a lot of time to find my 92 240sx... took me a year to find a 240sx in my area... was driving around one night in my old car a dodge shadow or something gay and the time was around like 1:00 in the morning and i was sooo damn bored... drove an hour and 15 minutes... i pulled over into some random used car lot to go pee behind a tree... look over to my left and there it was finally a green Nissan 240sx.. walk over to check it out... flat tire... broken head light., broken windsheild, no price tag.. so i was like wtf cuz all the other cars had price tags.. so i leave.. go home and go to sleep.. wake up the next day early around 8:30.. go back to the car lot that I had trouble finding and got lost like twice on the way. LOL... i walk in with a 1,000 dollars and say I want the Nissan 240sx. They took the cash,, wrote up the paper-work and told me to come back in later on that day while they replace the windshield for me.. go back around 3:00 and picked up the 240SX and drove it home jizzing and sh*ting in my pants!!!
and plus they gave me 200 dollars for my dodge shadow.. LOL
best day in my freaking life!
