How tight is your 5-speed?

Just how tight is your shifter with the transmission? Is there any movement with the shifter while in gear with anybody else? I know it was there with the OEM shifter, but the rubber isolater was there on the shifter, and that is what contributes to the spongy feeling the stock shifter gives. But what about with aftermarkets?

While my car is in gear, driving and sitting still, I can move the shifter around slightly, is this normal? I'm talking nominal movement here maybe 1-2 centimeters at most.

Maybe time for a trans rebuild?

i was like wtf at first when i had this it might be the clutch or something but from what i was told it is because "it needs to have some play" w/e the #%(* that means so from what i hear then its normal but not to much otherwise gears kick out and you might need a new clutch (its doing it to mine slowly) so i know its time for a new one soon.

Hmmm... I know i could use a new clutch, which I have and going to be installing when I do the swap. But I don't have any issues with it popping out of gear.

Now I'm not talkinga bout the engagment of the gears. The B&M is tight in that sense, just when its in gear, I can move the shifter forwards and backwards a lil bit.

i have one of those cheapo Ebay "nismo" knock-off short shifters.
It rattles in certain RPM'S and it moves around like 1" side to side in either gear

BUT ... it still lets me shift in about 50% the distance. with clean even shifts .. only bounces around while in gear.

On my car, I have a B&M like state earlier, when the car is in gear there is very little if any play in it like I said earlier. I don't recall being able to move it forwards and backwards at all when in gear.
