I found a 240 I may buy...need some input

Well I've been browsing around for a 240 lately, and I came across this.

It's a 1993 240sx for $3500. Sadly, that is everything I know. I'm going to call the seller tomorrow and get more info and see if it's worth selling my truck for. I will not be buying it if it isn't a 5 speed. My current vehicle is automatic and I hope to God I never have to drive an automatic again in my life. I hate them.

Back on topic:

What I'd like to know is if there is anything particular to the 93 model that I need to watch out for? Or something that I should look for when buying it? What questions should I ask the seller on the phone tomorrow?

Thanks for any input.

also find out if it has a hud... one that works... and ask the owner if it ever had to be replaced... a broken hud will not show miles as the odometer will not work without the digital speedo working...

that car looks to be in good shape.. but looks can be deceiving... and unless there is a lot of mods on the car it is over priced... point out the there is a dent behind the drivers door and any other imperfections that you can find... remember that it is a 12 to 13 year old car...

Hey man! I see you got back into 240's. Still got the 4runner? 93 was the Ka24de (DOHC) so it should be pretty good unless something wrong with it or whatever.

here we go...

...check for bad tie rod boots, leaky tension rods, hot tranny, slow mouse-belt motors. Of course, check the usual "general" stuff too, like fluid leaks, rust, you know.

Well i don't have the 87, I picked up a 90 because it was only $200 more than I paid for my 87, but had a system in it and power EVERYTHING, plus a v6 instead of the old 116 HP 4 cylinder. Sadly though, its about as fast as the 4 cylinder because the automatic tranny blows. I will need to sell my truck to buy a 240. My truck bluebooked at $4000, Edmunds at $3500 or something. I got it for $2600. I'm hoping I can get enough out of it to buy a 240 without having to spend what I have saved up, because I'd much rather use that to throw on some mods. (And frankly, I'm enjoying not working right now. )

Anyway, thanks for the help guys, I'm gonna give him a call and see what's up tonight.

NINJA EDIT: You guys think $3500 is bad? I picked up an autotrader and saw a 98 240 with a Greddy turbo and some suspension mods and the usual bolt-ons...he wanted $15,000. Is that normal or is he insane? I'm thinking the latter.

that '98 for 15K would be normal if there's a Skyline RB engine in there or if the car has a built SR20det and a bunch of other fancy stuff. If it's '98 Ka-T then it's a bit high, but not by much... '98's run for around $8K, add to that the price of the turbo, intercooler, coilovers, rims, then the price could go up to around twelve thousand... somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Dammit! I just called and it's gone. It sold the day after it was listed in Autotrader. It was a 5 speed too, and he let it go for $3000.
