Just Asking Your Opinion
Alright guys i need your this. Im lookin at two 240s here. The first one is a 95 240sx 5spd, 106000 miles, repainted, makes a weird noise when clutch is engaged (havent driven it but was told by the seller), came to the conclusion that its either the tranny or rear axel. Asking 4500 for it but said he would give it to us for 4000, thinking that we could get him down to 3900. Its in PA and i live in ohio, which means i would have to rent a trailor ($50), pay for gas another 50, and get it licensed/titled transfer, ect. The second one is a 92 240sx SE 5spd, 127000 miles, havent driven it, from a used car lot, dont know the asking price, assuming he wants 3200, repainted, hatch looks bondoed, ABS, not hicas, spoiler(which probably = rust), and the steelies. Like i said guys i just need your opinion, just gunna help me decide which one id get.

apples & oranges. Find out more about both, then ask again.
I'm looking for a house to buy. I found 2. 1 needs plumbing work. The other is a bit older & in good shape. I dont know the price of it though. Which one is a better deal?
Doesnt make much sense does it?

Yup. Do what chiroke said.
The 95 is a better deal, and has a better resale value. ALso check carfax and see if it's been in a bad accident.
I would make an appointment with a shop that is near the sellers house. Tell them BEFORE you go in, that you want them to look at car because your going to buy it. Have them pick everything apart and point out EVERY flaw in the car with how much it will cost. Then off 3500 or your best judgement.
The other car isn't a great deal.

This is mostly a repeat but 1. Find out more about the cars. 2. Why are you buying a car from out of state? Like if you got a great deal on it I could understand but your chances of getting ripped off are much better if you never get to look at the car before you pay for it. 3. All things equal about the cars, I'd go with the 95.

I'm not trying to sound like a smartass here, but maybe you should try to decide on whether or not you want an S13 or an S14. Other than the engine, they're different cars. Or are you just trying to get any 240sx you can get your hands on?

S13 has a lighter body style, better for quarter mile times and drifting. Down side to the s13 "very lucky if you get vlsd" installed prior to the purchase. To tell if you get a S13 VLSD look underneath the car at the diff if the diff has heat sinks surrounding the diff case you have vlsd. Suspension parts for the s13 are cheaper than the s14 for some reason. But the s14 comes with 5 lug on SE models.
But even though I own an s13, I would love the interior of the s14 mmmmmm roomy.
If you have no clue as to the options of the car's you should read Raines thread on the vin numbers.

S13's are also popular because they're cheaper. But then again a lot of people don't take into consideration how much $ they'll spend afterwards getting it back to "clean" status (bodywork, replacement interior bits and pieces, leak fixes, maybe an engine swap, etc.)

Total when I am done with my s13 $7000........ Holly Shnikie's....
Screw the majority of the performance parts, it gets expensive just to keep the car runnin.

I would buy the S14. I own an 93 but thats because it had 69K on the motor when I bought it last summer and it was in great shape. Like everyone else has said, the S14 will sell better down the road, and thats something to really consider.
